Brown Bread Films

Just some quick logo design for the end of Brown Bread Productions showreel for the show. The same people that created Benjamin. They just needed this very quick but it still looks pretty slick on the edit.

Me and Tom will be completing the full identity brief over summer when they have the collective rolling.

Benjamin

I have decided to take this brief on as a PPD project instead of my FMP. This is all the identity, posters, fliers, cards and press release pack for short film Benjamin.

These are just some logo's I knocked up. I wanted to keep it dead simple, as simple as possible really. I think they went for the times or the Georgia one. Both nice choices.

This is the blog for blog for Benjamin and the film will be showing all week at the show. As will all my posters and cards etc for the film.

Ex Why Zed

This is a printers that pretty much cver everything. Me and Paul Phung got in touch with them to see what prices are like to print zines. They haven't got back in touch yet but it seems like a likely candidate to do the printing.

I feel that contacting printers and talking to them/asking/requesting quotes etc is getting a little easier now. Especially after the Fine Art book.

Prosectus Pitch

This is our second pitch for the prospectus. We had the initial pitch where we just hand in boards, then we got a call asking us to pitch verbally to a load of very imporatant people. After that we had a call saying we were in the running for it we just needed to do some amendments to our pitch. They didnt want clarendon so we went with Avant Garde. They also said they didnt know weather they liked the use of photos. So we gave them two ideas, one is on the board from last year and we have kept the gold foiling we both think it really works. There are another 5 pages to this 3rd proposal so all in all we gave them a third pitch of 7 pages.

Overall its been a massive learning curve having to pitch for work and keep delivering work after that. We just have to wait for the verdict now.

Flier

This is the flier we are going to hand out around the surrounding areas. We have kept it fairly simple and kept the back a little more experimental. We have agreed that this should be a little more friendly to people as the newspaper is more of a designers promo. So we have sounded approachable and easy to talk to. Hopefully it should get some work in.

Promo Paper

Me and Tom have been working on a quarterly newspaper that outline some of the projects we have been taking on. We are only printing some of these and are sending them out to kind of influential people with a cover note outlining what we are doing with ourselves. We hope that people will think that it is admirable what we are doing and hope to get some recognition for it.

Business Cards

We got the business cards the other day. We have some type and info on the back and we are stamping the front to give it that 'workshop' aesthetic. It's a little touch that works well.

Website

Me and Tom have set up a new website for the studio. We have put collaborative projects on and projects we have completed by ourselves. We feel we have put a good balance of projects up and that it represents the way we work really well.

We used Cargo instead of Indexhibit. The overall aesthetic of Cargo is cleaner and more professional. Also Cargo is easier to use.

The Studio

Me and Tom went to have a look at the studio the other day. It is bigger than I remember, we know exactly what we need for it and are going to start getting moved in very soon. It is very exiting. We had some stern words with the landlord too so we don't get in any trouble or anything. All in all at the moment everything is looking very hopeful and we cant wait to make a start.

Funding

We have been looking into funding for the studio. We have looked at the arts council and at Business Link. It is pretty good and insightful but we can't get any funding. It was just on a whim, not anything we really 'need'. It would just be nice to get a little cash.

Test Space

Tom got some prints in Test Spaces in Leeds. He put it in under the name Workshop. This is good for him but also good for the both of us. We put this silly little zine in it too, the first zine from the 'Workshop Press'. We like it, were hand numbering and stamping them all. We feel this is how a zine should be, not any really content, cheaply made and looks good and funny.

This is pretty good exposure.

Books Arrive

The book finally got here, we are really really pleased with the results and it was a massive day for us. Our first big print run and it all worked.

The fliers were cut with a blunt blade so they have two tattered edges. I spoke to the rep I was dealing with and he said with un coated stock the blade always has to be fresh otherwise it does that. They were really cool about it, they picked the old ones up and dropped some new ones off.

Fine Art Book Sign Off

Pretty big deal, we had to check all the proofs that Jade had sent us. We checked them over three times then we let fine art do it. I had to sign and date every page because it was all in my name. Its pretty daunting really knowing you have so many thousands of pounds as the bottom of a pen, but its also pretty exiting, it was obviously a massive deal for us.

Through The Eyes Of Nicky Howells

http://sidewalk.mpora.com/videos/through_the_eyes_of_nicky_howells-1.html

This is a skateboarding website for a magazine, it is a pretty big deal and massive in England. The main guy in it Nicky Howells is wearing one of my shirts. I got a little exsposure from this which is cool but they have sold out now so it is a little annoying, I wish there were some left.

Another series, maybe Ol' Dead Rappers 2 is in the pipelines.

Ol' Dead Rappers Sold Out

Finally all 60 of these hand printed shirts I did ages ago have fully sold out, even the mis printed ones (only 3). It was fun doing them and i am glad there are a load of happy customers out there with there t-shirts on. I do occasionally get the odd stranger asking me for one but it was mainly a friend thing.
